When it comes to liposuction, the knees are probably not the first body area most would think of as a popular treatment area. But we do see many patients each year that complain of having “fat knees” and struggle with insecurity due to the stubborn fatty deposits that can surround the inner knees.
What Causes Inner Knee Fat?
Fat can accumulate around the knees for a number of reasons and can become more apparent as we age. There are many factors that may contribute to this type of fat buildup including excess weight gain or fluctuations, genetics, lipedema, lack of muscle tone surrounding the knee, as well as hormonal changes from pregnancy or menopause.
How to Get Rid of Inner Knee Fat
While we always recommend healthy diet and exercise to help with weight loss no matter what area you might be interested in, it’s impossible to specifically target any one area of the body through diet and exercise (including the knees). In order to lose fat around your knees you would have to lose overall body fat until the knee area reduced along with the rest of your body. This can be extremely challenging and frustrating since some areas can be quite stubborn and you may never see the results you were hoping for. But there are other options…
There are some non-surgical methods on the market that may be able to slightly help with inner knee fat, but the most efficient, long lasting, and effective method will be a surgical procedure – knee liposuction.
What is Knee Liposuction?
When a candidate has excess fat that makes the bulges around the inner knees more apparent knee liposuction may be a good solution. Knee liposuction involves making tiny incisions on the inside of the knee and then removing those stubborn fat deposits. Knee liposuction at Houston Lipo Center is performed under local anesthesia, and often, the procedure is combined with thigh liposuction to achieve an overall slimmer, smoother, contoured leg shape.
Who is a Good Candidate for Knee/Thigh Liposuction?
The ideal candidates for knee and thigh liposuction are women and men who suffer from localized fat deposits in the inner thighs, outer thighs, the inner knees, or any combination that do not respond to diet or exercise. You may not be an ideal candidate if you experience weight fluctuations or if you’re currently on a weight loss journey. Qualifying knee lipo patients should be close to their ideal weight, in good health, and have good skin elasticity. It’s important to note that liposuction will not necessarily get rid of cellulite or saggy skin, so if you have those concerns be sure to discuss them during your consultation.
Knee & Thigh Liposuction Cost
For knee-only liposuction the price range is between $3,900-$4,900. If combined with outer thighs or inner thighs (two areas) the price range is between $4,900-$5,900. If all three areas are combined – knees, outer thighs, inner thighs (three areas) the price range is between $5,500-$7,500. We also accept financing through CareCredit and Cherry for monthly payments as low as $79/month.
Knee Liposuction Recovery
Patients will be given a compression garment to be worn around the thighs and/or knees all day and night for 2 weeks following the procedure. This is to help reduce swelling and help your body form to its newly contoured shape. There is very little downtime required, but patients should walk immediately after their procedure. Walking helps speed up healing as it promotes better blood flow. You can see results within a few weeks, and continuous improvement over the following months. Liposuction of the thighs and knees leaves patients with slim, contoured legs.
